What is PHP-Nuke and why to use it?What is PHP-Nuke and why to use it?
by Tadas Talaikis ------------------------------------------------- What is PHP-Nuke? PHP-Nuke is advanced content management system (CMS) that have all the instruments inside to run simple website or entire portal. It's a free software abd can be found at http://phpnuke.org. Normal hosts have autoinstallers for PHP-Nuke, so you can install this system with a few clicks. PHP-Nuke is constructed of modules. À Members List - gives list of all users with links to their websites... Francisco Burzi, father of PHPnuke, describes his creation as follows: PHP-Nuke is a Web Portal System, storytelling software, News system, online community or whatever you want to call it. The goal of PHP-Nuke is to have an automated web site to distribute news and articles with users system. Each user can submit comments to discuss the articles, just similar to Slashdot and many others. Main features include: web based admin, surveys, top page, access stats page with counter, user customizable box, themes manager for registered users, friendly administration GUI with graphic topic manager, option to edit or delete stories, option to delete comments, moderation system, Referers page to know who link us, sections manager, customizable HTML blocks, user and authors edit, an integrated Banners Ads system, search engine, backend/headlines generation (RSS/RDF format), and many, many more friendly functions. There are thousands of developers who can offer you a lot of other modules. Actually all what you can imagine can be included into PHP-Nuke. Really, it's "the future of the web..." Who can use PHP-Nuke? Anyone can use it: businesses, information websites etc... Why to use PHP-Nuke? By http://spaghettibrain.com: À Because managing sites of great dimensions with only static HTML pages is dangerous to your health. À Because through the dynamic pages the users can interact (forum, private messages, surveys...) À Because through the dynamic pages we can offer value added services (restricted areas, various services based on user classification...) À Because the information is more easily catalogued. À Because with a few PHP pages we recall a lot of information. À Because keeping the contents up-to-date does not demand particular technical expertise and can be managed by anyone (by Davis Batistes). À It is the simplest way to to pull over a complete portal everything, then, thanks to its open source engine, allows anyone to implement new modules or to modify and to personalize existing ones (by Micione, www.vizzani.net) À It is very intuitive and easy to learn (by Anonymous) À It is easy to modify by those who intend to personalize the program (By Arus) À It is easy to use by the less experts among us. À Google loves it (by www.zongoo.com) For example, if I want all those features (newsletter, recommend us, news system) I must install separate scripts which are NOT integrated between. Why to use them if I can install one PHP-Nuke and then play with it, choose a lot of available modules, blocks and themes, create or modify them on my own?
