Using a unique combination of content caching, file compression, code acceleration and download serving, the Zend Performance Suite enables customers to decrease hardware costs while improving performance, protect content assets from piracy, and ensure a better end-user experience.

-- Download optimization -- The Zend Download Server. For Web
sites hosting large downloadables such as multi-media files,
Zend Performance Suite 4.0 includes a brand new component that
delivers immediate ROI through better server utilization and
reduced infrastructure costs. Because of the inefficient
method with which Apache Web Servers process file downloads,
many parallel requests for large files can slow -- or even
halt -- the application's ability to service additional users
or requests. To ensure that there are resources available to
service other user requests for downloads, many organizations
must purchase additional servers -- even though current
infrastructure resources may not be operating at full
capacity. The Zend Download Server eliminates this problem by
taking over the download process, freeing the server to
continue handling other requests. The Zend Download Server
completely eliminates server memory download limits, allowing
sites to service more concurrent downloads without investing
in additional hardware.
For sites that have content assets that are vulnerable to
pirating, the Zend Download Server has several new security
features. A new API enables customers to house content outside
the server's root directory, and safely serve it only after
positive validation of the user.

unique type of dynamic caching that has helped customers
reduce server loads and SQL requests to reap significant
performance gains. Version 4.0 has a new, easy-to-use data
